Information for Professionals

Given the established link between adoption and mental health difficulties, it is highly likely that mental health professionals will be working with people affected by adoption. Research has also shown that many mental health professionals require more training to work with this client group, which is why the Australian Government has funded training developed by the Australian Psychological Society. New online training for workers who support people impacted by forced adoption.

​

The Australian Government has launched new online training to help workers who support people impacted by forced adoption. Forced Adoption: Practical Skills and Awareness is an introductory, non-accredited online training course that aims to help workers in the aged care workforce and community service sector to mitigate the risks of triggering people with past trauma.
