Open Support Group

In working together we hope to begin the healing journey.

This support group is for anyone who has been affected by adoption. Whether you have a partner affected by adoption, or an aunty, an uncle or a friend...or you have been directly affected yourself, we invite you to come along to our Open Support Group.

Support meetings are not for everyone, but many people who have attended and continue to attend feel certain they have benefited from the experience. For some, the thought of going to a support group meeting can be scary and may conjure up images of previous “group encounters” -  where you sit in a circle and directed by a facilitator and must contribute your experience to the group.

Jigsaw Queensland support group meetings are not like that. They offer a friendly, open environment around a coffee table so that attendees can reach out to each other, helping each other along the sometimes bumpy road that is the adoption journey.

For more information about the Open Support Group meetings, you may care to check our Facebook page by clicking the icon below, where we post reminders of dates and other information or phone Jigsaw Queensland on (07) 3358 6666.

I'm here to meet other people in the same situation as I am and I hoped that I might learn more about how to cope by listening to other people's stories and experiences, and I have!

I didn't feel confident about attending without being able to bring a support friend with me. We're both learning more about all aspects of adoption and I particularly appreciate the honesty and lack of judgement from the group.

The Open group helped me gain more insight into the experiences of others in the adoption triad. It was a revelation and allowed me to learn more without the pressure of talking with my own biological relatives about their experiences.
